1902. Le couple du jeune poète Rainer Maria Rilke, 27 ans, et de la sculptrice Clara Westhoff, bat de l’aile. Rodin est une figure formidable de ce Paris du début du XXe siècle, et dans son entourage se croisent Marcel Proust, Stefan Zweig, Bernard Shaw ou encore Isadora Duncan, “la danseuse aux pieds nus”. Trois ans après leur première rencontre, Rilke se voit proposer par le sculpteur un poste de secrétaire particulier et emménage dans sa résidence de Meudon. Mika (Fiorella Mattheis) is a stripper who tries to rebuild her life after a troubled and mysterious past. She started working in the bustling Rua Augusta, in São Paulo, where she is a dancer in Love Nightclub and has fun in the nightclub Hell. In one of these nights, the fate of the young woman crosses with that of the son of a powerful businessman, which changes his life forever.

It does a reasonably good job of situating the drama in 5th century Roman Africa, even though the external sets are obviously contemporary (to Rossellini) Roman remains. The interiors are well done and convincing. The drama is dramatic when it needs to be, though there are some lengthy theological discussions, and one does get a sense of the power of St. Augustine's preaching, of the theological disputes of the time and of the tasks of a bishop. The scenes from his life, though limited till his later life, are well chosen to illustrate his character and accomplishments.

A beautiful vampire-girl works as a prostitute on the famous Augusta Street (in São Paulo, Brazil), because it's an easy way to get food. But suddenly her path intersects with another monster that attacks at the same address, the "Augusta Street Ripper" - a serial killer who is killing prostitutes in that region.

Augusto Matraga is a violent agressive farmer who after being betrayed by his wife and trapped by several enemies is bitten up and left for dead. He is rescued by a couple of humble small farmers who nurse him for a long time until he is well again. Influenced by the couple Augusto Matraga turns to a religiosity a long time neglected, believing he is atoning for past sins. Then he starts a long penitent life while waiting for his hour and chance. As time goes on he comes strong again but he only realize this after meeting Joaozinho Bem Bem, a famous chief of "jaguncos" who sees in him the violent man he was. Augusto Matraga starts a fight between his violent nature, his hidden desire of vengeance and the mysticism and goodness which is also part of him. This conflict lasts until the moment when his hour and his chance comes, the hour and chance to fight, to struggle an to use his strength and courage in the name of faith and humanity.
